"LAUGHING TORSO"

Dear Sadleir,

Oddly enough since writing you this morning Crowley's solicitors have delivered the Statement of Claim and I enclose a copy of it.

You will notice that he brings a second libel, that about the disappearance of the baby in Sicily.

[Martin] O'Connor [solicitor for Nina Hamnett] has as you know a lot of material for "justifying" i.e. showing that the man is no better than he is made out to be. I propose to ask him to let me see his defence and particulars in draft before we deliver ours.

Yours sincerely,

Charles S.J. Harper
