Correspondence from Constable & Co., Ltd. [Publishers of Laughing Torso] to Mrs. J. Fothergill
[Correspondence concerning Constable & Co.'s preparation for the libel suit brought by Aleister Crowley against Nina Hamnett and the publication of her book Laughing Torso.]
November 2nd, 1932
Dear Madam,
It was kind of you to write to us as you did about the trouble over LAUGHING TORSO. As the law of libel exists at present in this country, we are afraid that publishers have no means of protecting themselves against this kind of attack. We do not yet know how serious the thing will turn out to be, but we are in any event very appreciative of the sentiments you express.
Yours faithfully
Mrs. J. Fothergill 69 Sandown Lane Wavertree Liverpool
