Correspondence from Mary E. to Aleister Crowley

Dear Sir,

Many thanks for your letter. I am not overestimating the difficulties but this preliminary interview alone with fares etc. will cost nearly £5 which is more than I can afford to spend at present on a visit which might be quite useless. You might find me an unsuitable subject or I might find the treatment too expensive or quite impossible. I feel that if you could give me some slight idea of what is expected of me and of the cost I should then be able to say whether I can embark on it or not.

P.S. does the treatment involve hypnotism?
