Correspondence from Frieda Harris to Aleister Crowley

[12 June 1938]

     Dear Crowley,

I am indeed sorry for your difficulties, but you must believe I have not got £150 to give away or invest. I am unable to publish your books, build a temple, pay your liabilities, and am under a genuine promise not to give any guarantee, or raise money by the use of my name, which promise makes it legally impossible for me to do so—and therefore I cannot do any of the things you suggest.

Perhaps we must stop at once as I cannot use your valuable knowledge. . . .
