Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

Dear Louis

Thanks for your note of the 9th. It seems to me that your plans ought to be even more muddled than mine. At present I am here and shall remain here until I go elsewhere, but when and whither, who can tell? Of course nobody can tell what is happening, or is likely to happen; it seems to me to depend very much on the Soviets, who are quite likely to take the chance to smash the Boche; and on Roosevelt if things go badly, we shall want those blokes in again, and if so, I hope to get sent over there to exercise my well known personal charm. I think we are about due for a fruitful conversation, so I hope you will lose no time in ringing me up, 9-10 a.m. is the best time, or after the black-out starts.

Yours ever

Aleister
