Correspondence from Aleister Crowley to Karl Germer
[EXTRACT]
[15 January 1940]
I too have used some unorthodox methods and got good results. I feel sure that the crux of the Opus is to et the "higher planes" to interest themselves in the work. Spiritual purity is difficult to define. One important attitude is a long habit of using all one's energies in the service of the True Will.
For me at least it is best to send inhibitions and the critical faculties to sleep. For this some ritual is useful: I mean, to "go places" and get somewhat "lit up" before diving into the "black-out." If this is combined with hunting and conquest, so much the better.
