Correspondence from Frieda Harris to Aleister Crowley

You must wait for the centuries to catch you up. I find even when I stutter some explanation of the cards when I show them, that there are great spaces where I am not understood or not listened to & then the spectator will suddenly trot out a remark like 'Why is the paper folded with tissue instead of talc!'

A word Nuit, for instance, starts a train Nuit, Night Star! Spangled. Blue-depth. Receptivity off we go in our own country & miss the lucid explanation from the Seer in a tangled delight of applying ones [sic] own theory to a truth.

[Frieda Harris proposed to print color reproductions of the Tarot cards] in blue & white or green & white or mauve & white according to the disposition of the card which we could decide together & then coloured in the 3 remaining of 4 colours which belong to each card, in a flat colour. This ought to be much cheaper & I am experimenting as I think the result rather nice.

I enclose one small coloured card, this worked in 4 colours but that would require 5 printing & I understand it is the making of the various blocks that cost money. I shall go into this more fully with an expert.
