Correspondence from Aleister Crowley to Unidentified Recipient

[undated: circa November 1942]

[hand-written on a sample piece of "Arnold's unbleached paper"]

This paper is of the finest rag quality "Arnold's unbleached" manufactured in February 1940, before materials grew scarce. The stock consists of 9 reams; the O.T.O. (per Aleister Crowley) bought it last August for £60. It could be sold now at a considerable profit.

Both quality and quantity are adequate for the production of my new book on the Tarot [The Book of Thoth]; but there is none to spare.

It would be almost impossible to replace this parcel, and I am therefore unwilling to sell. But I am willing to borrow £35 on this security, in order to save time. Repayment to be made four weeks from the completion of the loan. I would pay a very moderate consideration for the accommodation.

Edward Alexander Crowley

[eleven-fold] Cross] Baphomet

Grand Master General and Vitain of the O.T.O.

This deal must be completed by noon Nov 14 or it is not worth making at all. The only real point of it is to avoid the trouble of making explanations.

A.C.
