. . . Look here my dear, I have received a sample copy [of the Tarot cards] and I am really upset about it. The colour printing is really bad and I am ashamed of my work. Perhaps you have forgotten what the originals are like. The blues and purples are all missing and the red is a low-down terracotta—I know how you have striven with the job and I don't like to interfere but I really cannot put up with such an output. . . .
