The colour printing [of the Thoth Tarot cards] is really so bad I am ashamed of my work. Perhaps you have forgotten what the originals are like. . . . I know how you have striven with the job & I don't like to interfere but I really cannot put up with such an output. I suggest that all the colour reproductions should be taken out & a slip put in to say owing to the War they cannot be produced. If not at least they could be put straight & in the middle of the page. I am ashamed of this work & if I can do nothing easier would prefer to have the copies sent to me & I will stamp them (as they look like badly arranged postage stamps) in myself & colour them in by hand, the whole 200. The pictures want a line round them to give them depth. I do wish you had felt inclined to ask my opinion on my own work. You could not possibly know what it requires. . . . The sample copy is so badly bound, all the leaves are uneven that I will return it to you.
