Correspondence from Aleister Crowley to H.C.D. Wilmott Newman
[EXTRACT]
[16th August 1944]
John Yarker saw in 1911 and 1912 that his 33 degrees were themselves unworkable.
[ . . . ]
He gave me a printed copy of the 30 rituals—4° to 33°, the first three being, of course, the Craft Degrees of Masonry. This devastating volume I took with me on one of my journeys across the Sahara Desert, and from it extracted anything that seemed useful to preserve, and very little there was. The desert was left dry.
