As far as Mercury in concerned the Alchemists would say we have attempted a mixture with impure gold or Mercury is not extracted with sufficient heat. Well I tried and so did you and if we haven't made the Philosopher's Stone I feel I have extracted something which is precious to me. I am painting and have intervals of rare pleasure too.
