Dear Louis

A pity your stay was so short and also somewhat harrassed by the irruption of Cordelia [Cordelia Sutherland]. I quite forgot that I wanted to have a heart-to-heart talk with you about Hastings when you were writing to Young Hopeful. What about V2 [rockets] in thos eparts? If the Queen's Hotel is in working order, it might very possibly do, provided they have got accommodation. If not, the first thing I am aiming at is proximity to (a) the sea, (b) the Chess Club—along the Terrace would be a two-roomed flat, run by a woman between 40 and 55, a placid soul, who can cook, and would take a motherly interest in me. Of course I know that this is a hashish dream; but then these days hashish dreams are always happening. One room will do if large and suited for writing. If anything like that is not to be found, I rather feel that Cordelia's place may be reasonably possible. Hope you have a good time and will be back here before I leave.

Yours ever

A.C.

P.S. Amy M on the Fall & Origin of Evil. Why? It is a long story, but begins "God got sick of seeing all those animals running about"—and she never looked back.
