Dear Louis

Thanks and Ta [illegible] for stamps. N.B. The GW [Great Work] is not at stake; they are only to please people with nephews whom I can't tip.

Also for photo: you do seem to have got into a villainous-Cooking gang!

Snowed under getting ready for Grant [Kenneth Grant], who should get here to-morrow evening. I made a bargain with Symonds [Vernon Symonds]; it's supposed to cost me £1.0.0 a week to have him here; but it will probably add up to £2. So I'm tightening my belt! Quite well again now, but I have to be bloody careful while there are cold winds about.

Must dash to the post—write often, whether you have anything to say or not. I have written you 3 or 4 times. Did the candy come? I had to leave it to the girl to pack and send; still, we 'opes!
