Dear Louis

So glad J.C.P. [John Cowper Powys]. is better. Delighted about 17-19 Nov. I booked your room definitely. Nov 18 is my 47th Magical Birthday[1]! Overwhelmed more than usual, but have heard of a new typist who may lighten the load. Dentist nearing end of excavation. 3 weeks ago the tide turned. Nature got the better of the poison; I am a new man. Beating all the big noises at chess, and feeling fit as an Amati.

Love

Aleister.

Excuse haste.

1—18 November 1898—the anniversary of Crowley's initiation into the Golden Dawn.
