Correspondence from Jane Wolfe to Grady McMurtry

[EXTRACT]

[21 October 1952]

Jack and Candy [Marjorie Cameron] had their trailer packed and were ready to go to Mexico for a time, when a motion picture order came in. At the filling of this order the explosion took place. Jack had told me that the running fire in motion pictures was his invention.

[Jack] was in so deep a case of shock that he gave instructions regarding the removal of a bath tub which had landed on his back. Yet getting to the hospital he became inarticulate, lapsed into unconsciousness and shortly died.

Jack was badly mutilated. no one was permitted to see the body.

There was no service for Jack: Candy and two young men, in silence held a lighted-candle vigil.
