Correspondence from Karl Germer to Philip Kaplan
Barstow, Cal. 601 Frances Drive
January 11, 1957.
My dear Mr. Kaplan:
The New Year does seem to have brought about a change! Since writing you less than a few weeks ago, I have had the help of a young friend from South America who is studying with me and in the course of this we had to open some of the remaining unopened cases, willy nilly. I have all my spare books available, and also the Album of photographs of A.C.'s paintings etc.
As I remember it was primarily the Album that you were interested to see. It weighs 4 and a half pounds. What shall we do now? And what do you propose to do? How long would you need it?
After these six months so much has happened and changed in my life that a few things remain a little heavy in my mind, but now that practically the bulk of the cases is available, do, please, tell me how we can proceed and what other data you wanted me to send you.
My best to you and Sam Jacobs [Samuel Jacobs],
Sincerely
Karl Germer
P.S. I enclose a list of spare books which we had to make up for a Book Dealer last week. If this is of any interest to you, disregard the prices—you know that the dealers like to pick up books for $1 and sell them for $10!
