Correspondence from Karl Germer to Robert Lund
March 13, 1958.
Dear Mr. Lund:
I was very glad to get your letter of February 15. My intention was to await the compilation of the list of the material before making you a definite offer to buy the whole lot. However, the situation you described seemed so uncertain that I wrote a friend in Detroit who had put me on the track of these long-lost books in the first place after reading your article in the Detroit paper.
I hear from him that you have already handed over most of the material to a dealer. As he was unable to give me his name, I surmise you have a special agreement with him. I am glad to hear that you will give me the first decision to buy, and that a list of the books will be sent to me.
As my interest in this material is of long standing—since 1926—I do appreciate your promise to help me recover as much of it as possible, in giving me the first choice.
As soon as this part of the matter is settled, I trust you will permit me to write you again about the few items from the collection which you want to keep for your library. All that I need is a list of the titles and brief description.
Looking forward to the promised list,
Sincerely yours,
Karl Germer
