Mr. Gerald Yorke Forthampton Ct. Gloucester, England.
Dear Mr. Yorke,
Mrs. Sascha Germer and Miss Jane Wolfe both stated in different ways and places that you had made three copies of everything Aleister Crowley had written and had sent one copy to Karl Germer, one to the British Museum and one to be sequestered elsewhere for posterity.
Since all the manuscripts and books were stolen from Mrs. Germer a year and a half ago, I have been terribly worried about their fate and have been trying to make discreet enquiries as to just who was responsible. Jane Wolfe left to me the bulk of her letters and I came across the bit of information in the first paragraph, above. If this is true, it would relieve me of a great deal of worry, expense and trouble—and maybe even of danger.
I tried to work with Mrs. Germer when Karl died but she had ideas of her own on that score and became so difficult that I could be nor more use. You see, I have been in Thelemic work on the west coast here for years and Jane was my guru.
So now I ask you kindly to verify the above information and would be deeply grateful if you could assure me that all of Aleister Crowley's works were safe. Could you also let me know who owns the copyrights? Would we be out of order if we should reproduce some of Crowley's writings? I worked on typewritten copies of some of the things under Karl Germer's direction and so have only a little here that maybe could be published. Would you kindly give me any idea you may have on this core?
Very sincerely yours,
Phyllis Wade
