I wish you would realize how ill I am. When I'm with friends, it bucks me up, and so you don't notice so much.

     

But I have had to give up League Chess because a match game tries me beyond my strength. Several times in the last fortnight, too, I have had a complete 'black-out' which is awkward, as sometimes one doesn't come out of it at all. Makes it more dangerous living alone as I do, with no help at hand. Unless I start treatment at once, it's not too good a prospect for my work.

     

So I hope you'll reconsider the Income Tax proposal. I enclose a letter which I can sign on Tuesday if you agree; if not just say nothing.
