Frank Bennett Diary Entry Tuesday, 13 September 1921
Tuesday. Had a fair night, with one peculiar dream during the night. I thought I was standing on a ledge on the mountainside, overlooking a small town that was lit up with a dull red brown light. As I looked, there came from my left side, two men dressed in white. The first had a great bundle of something under his long robe, and a piece of paper, just stuck to his damp lip. When they got under the ledge upon which I stood, the last man, who had nothing to carry, bent down as if to tie his bootlace; the other found the paper on his lip gone, and began to gesticulate, and they shouted at each other, in true Italian style. Then the first bent down beside his companion, and a white cloth was spread over their bent backs. And from the top window of the house, round whose corner both men had come, a light shone down on the cloth. I looked up to where the light was shining from, and saw the Beast 666 standing in a blaze of light. And one stream, a thin round beam of light, shone on the cloth that was on the backs of the two men. And in the round disk of light was the picture of Frater Progradior—the one where he looks as if asleep, and deeply troubled. Then all went out.
I came back to my tent feeling very sad, which always happens when I see that picture. I lay down, and soon heard a very peculiar sound, as if it were some animal farting—a kind of noise like 'pah.' I could see a light. It went round from the left, round the back—'pah, pah-pah pah pah'. This went on, and at each 'pah' here was a light. I could see this light travel round, but it did not dome in front of the tent where I only had a very thin mosquito screen. So I got up and knelt down at the entrance, for I felt he would come there very soon, After a time he did so, and I had my fist ready to strike him; it shot out, but stopped at the screen. All went quiet, and I slept peacefully the rest of the night.
Got up at 6.30 am, feeling very weak. Had scarcely energy enough to dress. Went to breakfast at 7, had coffee and one piece of bread. After Pentagram came home to tent, and felt much worse. Hot, but could not perspire. At last, about 10.30, began to vomit again, and I fairly emptied myself of what little there was left in me. I ate nothing all day except a few grapes and some milk at noon, and a hard boiled egg at night. Did one hour's hard work carrying stones from 3.30 to 4.30. This did me a lot of good.
