Wednesday. Got up at 6 am feeling fairly well, and now became sure that the physical body had been shamming sickness, although I was feeling very sick all yesterday. I got the Beast's permission to stop all magical work for two days. I did none Tuesday or today, Wednesday, and I now feel fit as if I had never been sick. I ate a good breakfast, and a very good dinner, which shows that my stomach is all right. In fact, as soon as I had permission to do no more Magic for a time, I began to be better at once. So now I know for sure it is the body shamming. I shall start again tomorrow, and to Hell with it. Morning spent in Cefalu from 9.30 to 11. Read The Book of the Law from 2 to 3. Carried six bags and collected them. 3 to 4. Had tea and slept until 7. Pentagram was at 8.30. A.C. talking to Mary Butts, and Leah [Leah Hirsig] to Maitland [Cecil Maitland]. After Pentagram, talked with A.C. about Russell [C. F. Russell] and other things.
