Frank Bennett Diary Entry

Friday. Got up at 7 am. Dressed, washed, shaved. Got breakfast for A.C., Leah [Leah Hirsig], and self. Did housework until 9.30, then got ready for my walk all day. Started at 10. Walked along the main road to Lasconi—about 7 miles, and 7 back. It was a beautiful walk, but I felt tired when I got back. Back at 5.15, had some food ( a good feed), then a rest, before starting my Magical Ceremony of the Pyramid.

Started the Ceremony at 8.15 pm. Did the full Ritual of Banishing and Purification, Consecration, &c. Then recited the first chapter of The Book of the Law. Did this very well, I think. Then the Ritual of the Pyramid proper. Had a very distinct feeling of the Gods in the Circle; and after Spiral Dance, which I took very gently at first, then faster and faster, until I felt the whole place in a whirl, and I could hardly see. I fell at last in the position of the West, and it was some time before I could go on with the Ceremony. I had an internal feeling of ecstasy, not like the one in the previous Ceremony; that was more external—this is internal.

Morning. I feel just the same internal ecstasy, as if I had entered the Great Womb of Nuit, which I saw in the Circle again. But this time it came closer to me, and became like a doorway into which I entered. But all was dark, and I felt as if I had been swallowed up; and I lost all physical consciousness. I had only the feeling of rest and peace. I came back to consciousness with this feeling of internal ecstasy, which I cannot fully describe even now. Slept very sound all night. I think being so tired made me not able to get the full benefit of that Ceremony.
