Frank Bennett Diary Entry Sunday, 23 October 1921
Sunday. Got up at 6.45 am. Did the usual work in the house, and at 10 set out feeling very buoyant and full of life. I went some distance along the road, and began to feel very tired. So I came back, and went to the water's edge, and sat on the sand in the sun. But still continued to get worse, until at 2 pm I was in a fever, and at 3 returned, lay down on Shummy's [Ninette Shumway] bed, and began to recover. I spent the rest of the time very quietly, and at Y.R.P. we had Pentagram—A.C. doing the work.
At 8 pm I started my Ceremony, feeling quite normal. I did this with much zeal and fervour, and when I had built the Pyramid and taken the Oath, I gave the Charge to the Goods, whom I distinctly felt present. Then all went dark—absolute stillness for some time. Then from the East corner of the ceiling came a thin yellow light. This grew bigger and bigger, until it was a round stream of pure yellow light, about twelve inches in diameter, and I seemed to be flooded with it, and grew very hot. It lasted, I should think, for ten minutes, then gradually faded out, and the Temple felt very pure and holy. But I cannot describe my feelings, for I felt the Splendour and Terrible Force pouring down upon me.
