Aleister Crowley Diary Entry

Thursday, 13 March 1902

Wrote National Anthem for Ireland. Also the Hades Ode and the Rape of Persephone [from Orpheus]. How the thing drags on! The Hydra was a fool to it. Will anyone ever try to read it through?

Saw Agra Fort and Geneshi Lall [Emporium—jewellers since 1845].

Worked on Ahab.

Semi-lascivious. Second girl in train baffled by me growing very small on Alice in W.[onderland] principle.

On the 13th I went over Agra fort, which was very beautiful in places, but on the whole vulgar and depressing. There is too much of the thing altogether; and although it is well worth one visit, I cannot imagine any-one paying two.
