10.21. Decide to do tests on O.E. [Oscar Eckenstein] principle to see how I really stand.

Red Cross 2 m[inutes] 10 s[econds]. Several breaks of the kind "Oh, how well I'm doing it." Seem quite to have forgotten what very long times I used to do.

White Triangle 10 m[inutes]. 20 br[eaks]. (This about harmonic of good; 20 m[inutes] 10 br[eaks] is a good performance).

Apas-Akasa. V[ery] difficult; slight noises utterly disturbing. Must give strictest orders.

10.55. Rose Cross. 6 m[inutes] 7 br[eaks]. It must be observed that the duration of a break is unknown (and apparently unknowable, to a solitary worker, at any rate.) I doubt if this was really as good as on white triangle supra.

11.44. Triangle. 12 m[inutes] 10 br[eaks]. Above observation perhaps unimportant, as limit of variability is more or less constant (presumably) between 1901 and now. It will be useless to attempt to devise any means for measuring the length of a break. The only possible suggestion is to count the links in thought back to object. But not worth trouble, I think.

Note on Triangle above. I get considerably towards identification of self and Object. This probably a good result of my philosophy work.

It will be most scientific to practice only one or two objects; to go always to a stated number of breaks so that degree of concentration (h average length without break, roughly) h time.
