Aleister Crowley Diary Entry Thursday, 11 July 1903
3.37 1/2 - 45 1/2. PY [Pranayama]. Going easier.
3.48. Triangle. 3 m[inutes] 5 br[eaks]. Flabby.
5.51. Aj[na] 19 1/2 m[inutes] 20 br[eaks]. Difficult to settle. Sound hyperaesthesia. Began to forget Mantra.
10.12 1/2 - 10.19. PY 6 m[inutes]. V[ery] hard. The smallest quantity of food injures power immensely.
10.21. Aj[na]. 23 m[inutes] 2L br[eaks] (used cotton wool in ears). Thoughts of Aj go obliquely up (from opening of pharynx about) or direct horizontally forward. This gives idea to chase consciousness, i.e. to find by the obvious series of experiments the spot in which the thoughts dwell. Probably however this moves about. If so, it is a clear piece of evidence for the idealistic position. If not, by thinking of it, it thinking of itself, and its falsity will become rapidly evident.
Consciousness. If ragged stream, we have no ground for reasoning. Think long of lingham, looking at it physically as V[olo] N[oscere] [George Cecil Jones], thought. This may be Vamacharga Yoga. Namo Shivaya Namaha Aum!
