Aleister Crowley Diary Entry Thursday, 14 September 1916
I continue The Hearth.
Why I really envy God. He knows all the follies of humanity; so he must laugh a million times as much as I, who only contemplate my visit to a town where I cannot get a glass of beer, and where the chemist hesitates before adding a teaspoonful of alcohol to a tooth-wash, but sells me a pound can of ether without a wink.
9:30. Finished The Hearth.
