3.0 A.M. Opus[1] XII 93 [Leah Hirsig]. Op[eratio]n Amirably intense. El[ixir] Excellent. Obj[ect] For 93 to rule Paida referred to on Thursday.
5.40 P.M. Have revised "Colonel Pacton's Brother". It's a weird yarn, not in the least like my usual work. Some of it is overloaded and muddled. Some is obscure. Much is inconsequent. Much is tedious and unpleasant. Parts of it arouse a curiously strong dislike, whose source I cannot trace.
