12.45 A.M. Finished "The Diary of a Drug Fiend" (1) "Paradiso" 166 typed pages. (ii) "Inferno" 117 ditto (iii) "Purgatorio" 342 manuscript pages. Total: 121,000 words written in long hand by my Scarlet Woman of Whoredome [Leah Hirsig] between 11 A.M. on June 4 and 12.45 on July 1: 27 days 12 3/4 hrs. Average over 4321 words per diem. Allowance, too, must be made for my having a severe feverish cold during the last week.
