What policy shall we pursue to get [Karl Germer] and Cora [Cora Germer] to help to get properly started? [I Ching Hexagram] LXII Hsiao Kwo. Attend to the smallest details. Do not propose a too ambitious programme. Be very friendly and deferential. Take great care not to annoy them. Do not press. Things come slowly and in secret. Avoid at all costs ambition, etc.

Did this. Very friendly dinner.

Played Dr. Mieses [Jacques Mieses]. Made two very fine combinations to recover a pawn lost early. He only won in each(?)-game [end-game?] by the luck of the simplified position. Was nervous, very, or could have drawn.
