Shulz (?) to chess in P.M. Then Hamilton [Gerald Hamilton]. Karl [Karl Germer] and Hedy [Hedy Nevermann—Germer's girl friend] to dinner. Long and Terrible arguments. Hedy v[ery] dumb. Bill [Bertha Busch] got inflamed ovary—was hemroid, bless her stupid heart! so I didn’t call Dr. till near midnight.
