Couldn’t stick it any longer—got out and shifted our Vile Bodies to the Cavendish Hotel.

     

Lunch with Yorke [Gerald Yorke], who could not be got to give p.d. [post-dated] cheques amounting to £50; so gave letters—dated June 29—making himself liable for about £140!!!! The Champagne Cocktail did the trick.
