Aleister Crowley Diary Entry Wednesday, 25 July 1934
[horary figure]
Idiots said “guilty.” Judge bound me over. I had to pay £50 towards the cost of the prosecution. Gallop forced Ikey [Isidore Kerman] to brass up.[1]
Violent attack of asthma just as I got into box! Hell—stopped my spilling beans properly.
1—This refers to Crowley's being found guilty for being in possession of stolen property, namely five letters stolen by Captain Eddie Cruze from Betty May that were to be used to discredit Betty's testimony in Crowley's libel case against Nina Hamnett and her book Laughing Torso. Crowley had been arrested on 22 June 1934 for possession of the letters.
