[I Ching hexagram] XL.

     

Bobby [Barfoot] late for lunch.

     

Pat [Patricia MacAlpine] found me at Fitzroy [Tavern]—two minutes later Bobby walked in. That tore it!

     

Took Pat to lunch.

     

Chess all P.M. playing rather well.

     

Saw Michaud [Jean Michaud] re. the AgNO3 [silver nitrate] fraud. He talked incredibly stupid nonsense. AgNO3 to him means anything with Ag in it! And Ag is "a mixture of all sorts of things"!!! And the man goes on using the Ag again & again to make more & more AgNO3.
