Aleister Crowley Diary Entry Wednesday, 7 May 1941
[I Ching hexagram] 19.
12 1/4 A.M. Electricity failed.
1 1/2 O.K. Lunch at Imperial. Gorgeous French bitch (aet 87?) reminding me of the last phase of Ada Laverson. “Painted mountain.”
V.[ersus] Whitmarsh 5-1. The loss [in chess] was when orchestra & clatter of tea-cups did their usual stuff. I left a piece en prise in the end-game, and resigned in disgust.
Small accidents: eg., caught foot in flex of electric fire & broke both the plug & the connection at the fire-end.
