Wrote letters: saw Malin. Re. Tarot.
Chess too stupid.
Returning found Fried Ann & an hag! Gave them tea: hag went off. She then wanted to work for N.I.D. [Naval Intelligence Division]. Kept on saying so! A silly tedious woman; the dull Swiss peasant type. About 45; tried to be arch & coy)?) Secret Service, indeed! I wonder she didn’t want to be Shirley Temple.
