Aleister Crowley Diary Entry Saturday, 24 January 1942
[I Ching hexagram] 16.
Peculiarly pleasant dreams, & ambience new to me! The bien-etre we’ve heard so much about??
Woke 6 1/2 some 241 [asthma symptoms] (1)[Heroin].
7 1/2 (2)[Heroin].
8 3/4 (3)[Heroin]. This brought me up to normal: I wrote memo for proposal to [Lew] Jackson. But breath became somewhat laboured: shopping helped rather than hurt.
11 1/4 (4)[Heroin] routine. This makes the standard 3/4 gr “capital”.
Riddell accepts my offer of 10/- pm.
12 1/2 at Oddy’s [restaurant]: near collapse (5)[Heroin].
4 1/2 after good nap (6)[Heroin]. I hope to last out day. Total 1 1/6 gr.
Wrote horribly difficult letter to 132 [Wilfred Talbot Smith] & cover to Saturnus [Karl Germer]. Not feeling too brash(?): I wonder (again) about M&A[tropine].
7 1/2 41[M&A]. Anyhow, it kept me quite all right till midnight.
