Aleister Crowley Diary Entry

Wednesday, 4 March 1942

[I Ching hexagram] 31.

[Dr.] Crawshaw sent prescription totally wrong.

Frieda [Frieda Harris] sent proofs VI & XXI (latter in error marked XXII). But what joy! Wrote her by return.

Everett here: ordered 2 blocks Bayley [James Gilbert Bayley] photos.

Hughes [from Apex Printers] here: paid £2.5.0 for last 26 copies Temperance [Temperance: A Tract for the Times] asked estimates LG ["Landed Gentry"] 33.

Wrote at length to Saturnus [Karl Germer].

Hard working day: felt well most of it.

Temp 99.6-99.

Some diarrhoea: not bad. Tot: 1 1/4 gr. [Heroin] 1st, 2 1/2 last, 11.

Sutherland [Maurice A. Sutherland] to chess. If he would only bring scopalamine & hyasein(?), or even plain Chloral [Hydrate], he would save himself the trouble of putting me off my game by Sitzfleisch plus groaning and muttering and sniggering to himself. I won, however, 2-1. Agreed to draw the 1st game, as he wouldn’t resign in a dull losing position.
