Blank n plus 1. Nobody came to see me, or even rang up bar the Tub [Alice Upham].

     

I find it impossible to force myself to work: it merely means turning out lifeless stuff. I can’t even word this note properly.

     

Short things like Limericks I could manage—if I got an idea.

     

Idea! If £100 arrived, I should be less surprised!
