B.-T. [Dr. W. Brown Thomson] libelled me foully to [Dr.] Ch[arnak] Smith wrote that I smoked 3-IV Perique [tobacco] a day! Meaning week. Added that I was "at least as fit ment[all]y & phys[icall]y as 76 average”!! I screamed. Ch[arnock] S[mith] had misread. v.[ery] ill—scrafled "the" as 76!
