Dr. Jules Jacot-Guillarmod Diary Entry Tuesday, 15 August 1905
But already the next day, we will catch up with the stragglers who claim they no longer have the strength to advance. Ah! what a difference with our old carriers from Kashmir or Baltistan, so brave and so devoted! And with all that, permission to enter Nepal that does not come; the rain, the humidity with which all our luggage and our clothes are impregnated, the impossibility of harvesting the slightest plant, which molds between the sheets of blotting paper, or the most insignificant of the beetles, which hide we do not knows where; the bad humor which manifests itself in the form of a general ill will is more than is necessary to destroy the best tempered characters. - What are we going to become ? The only thing to do is to wait, and for that we offer ourselves the expensive luxury of a day of rest at Nego-Cave, a place which must be idyllic by the sun and from where our men will leave with new courage.
