Dr. Jules Jacot-Guillarmod Diary Entry

As we leave Nego-Cave, a rumor spreads in the camp, and soon after we see a soldier arrive who has doubled the pace to catch up with us and who finally brings us blessed permission in Nepal, with many restrictions, without a doubt; but in the end we have it and we are already seeing better days. And in fact, the mornings that followed gave us a few hours of respite that allowed us to get out of the way without the inevitable downpours of the first few days. In quick succession, we passed the Oma La, the Chumbab La and the Semo La, and definitively penetrated, by this last pass, into the Nepal that we had been following since our departure from Darjeeling. This entry took place under a formidable downpour which again put the courage of our men to a severe test; but from then on, the weather conditions improved somewhat, and most often allowed us to reach the stage before the traditional and uncomfortable shower.
