Meredith Starr Diary Entry Sunday, 26 June 1910
I DEMAND Power; yet I demand it not for itself, but to enable and further progress along The Path.
I will unveil the inscrutable mystery; the treasure-trove shall yield me up its secrets.

12. Results. Pronounced 'glowing sensation'. Sensation of floating in the air. Respiration—semi-trance.
O Man! verily Thou art a divine paradox! As Carlyle says Thou art 'an omnivorous Biped that wears Breaches,'—'a forked radish with a head fantastically curved'. . . . and thou art also 'a Soul, a Spirit, a divine Apparition'.
Warren and I went up to my room and tried all sorts of experiments. First we tried the Mantram [illegible] etc. but had to abandon it as we could not keep serious owing mainly to the fact that W.[arren] did not know the words well. Then we read for some time from ΘΕΛΗΜA. Following this we did the Sitali Kumbhaka. . . . Warren felt preliminary symptoms of an astral journey. Then we prayed for about 20 minutes to Adonai. . . . I succeeded in partly inflaming myself with prayer. . . . I prayed TERRIBLY—with all my heart soul and body—every muscle taut—perspired freely. Was absolutely exhausted afterwards. We also tried looking into each others eye which produces most extraordinary illusions (?). . . . At times W.'s face turned quite black—and his eyes seemed like the eyes of a corpse staring from a leprous skin. A HORROR seized me occasionally while doing this—an undefineable dread—which I fought and overcame.
There is an extraordinary aura in my room. It seems charges chock-full with magnetism.
