The Ancient Race

We have sowed and you reap;

For we showed you in sleep

The field.

We revealed you the place

Where the seed of the race

Flowered luxuriously,

Mysteriously.

You were empowered

To reap,

To gather and cull.

The beautiful blossoms

To place on your bosoms in sleep.

Because we give,

You live.

When we sleep, you die,

For you reap as we sigh,

As we sigh.
