Meredith Starr Diary Entry

Sunday, 10 July 1910

Prof. Work.

Read Poe's 'Philosophy of Composition' again, and his 'Cryptography'.

Read 'The Lost Valley' by Algernon Blackwood.

Breathing and Concentration.

Time. 6.50 — 7.22 p.m.

Results.

"Giant Feeling" again. This time it was less personal, but none the less real. There were suggestions of vast horizons, illimitable spaces; of unfathomable depths, and unspeakable heights. The nameless fascination of vast loneliness swept over me; the "Power of untamed Distance" and tremendous silences. . . . and withal, unutterable peace.

From 7.22 — 7.32.

Lay on my bed and prayed (i.e. aspired) to Adonai. . . . a great wave of heat swept from the top of my head down to my shoulders.
