Meredith Starr Diary Entry Tuesday, 16 August 1910
8. a.m. do not feel quite so fit as usual—but it will pass.
Went sailing the whole day with Captain Hayes and a girl-friend of his—splendid exercise!—went to Fareham. Got stuck on the mud twice. . . . and we very nearly had to stay in the boat all night—as we got into the harbour rather late and wind suddenly dropped. . . . after about 2 hours and innumerable escapes of being smashed up, a little breeze arose—sufficient to sail us fairly near the shore. . . . then we shouted for a boatman to tow us to our moorings. Enjoyed the day thoroughly.
As far as possible I turn everything into a magical exercise. It is now 10.0.
