A.M.

Passed night I ‘sassed’ many. They seemed my former actor associate and always did my bidding without protest. Always I spoke vehemently, a feeling I would get my oar in first.

P.M.

Why did I not sooner arrange to take the pictures to Capri? I am not only detained from returning Friday night as I had planned but must lose a day, but not being able to get the pictures from Michaelsen’s shop in time to make the Capri boat. This throws me here till Sunday night.

And no Hunchback slither! I go twice afternoon, and again evening. Not till after nine do I see him. Having these extra days I shall now try to see him again to-morrow, after my return from Pompeii. Though I need no Hunchback’s assistance to ‘make up my mind’. That ‘mind’ is under orders of the Will and—Knows!
