Last night’s dream, of Hats!

I had none. Discovered some one had presented me four, in four boxes; two small ones, which I did not see and two large ones, with wide brims. The first taken out of its box was a grey-green, soft, drooping brim, lacy edge, narrow band around crown, brought together in front by small rose—of pinkish-red with yellow showing through, I think. I was a trifle doubtful about this as I took it from its box, but found it most becoming and I was delighted.

I am not sure of following sequence, “1” may have been “2”

1. I heard my typewriter going and stopped to my door. (should say the hats and I were by the pigeon-holes in Temple room.) Machine was being operated by invisible hands and I thought a message for me was being typed, message not finished I returned to hats.

2. Took second box and drew out a most bizarre affair, black and white, of distinct lines and angles, trimming geometrical. Two tabs extended down on either side of face, from edge of brim against head, these were dotted. To my intense amazement, this too proved becoming.
