Jane Wolfe Diary Entry

D. [Dorothy Olsen] has gone on these fits again and again; always to be forgiven, petted and called a sweet thing. Whereas, I think she knows exactly what she is about and is quite able to control herself if she wants to. So I let her know thoroughly that her method was for me inexcusable.

What incensed me so was that Louis' kindness and generosity were, to to say, flung in his face. She made him feel he had been entertaining, not people who appreciated his thoughtfulness and were grateful for it, but a brood of filthy vampires. All his love for us was torn to shreds and thrown under foot.
